The Visibility Breakthrough How to Get Seen and Get Clients

Show Notes

Visibility is something that a lot of coaches struggle with. If you cannot be seen, then it is going to be very difficult to get clients. So how to be seen and how to get those amazing clients that we need?

Coaches Needs Motivation

Coaches are trying to empower others. Sometimes they forget to empower themselves. We need to be ourselves. We need to be authentic and we need to be empowered because as coaches, that is what we are trying to do. Obviously, they need coaches as well. You know, a coach needs a coach.

How can you motivate yourself? How can you get out there?

Be Kind To Yourself

First of all, it starts with mindset. Letting go of that fear of judgment. At the end of the day, people just do not care. Nine times out of ten, the judgment is coming from yourself. We are definitely our harshest critics, but we can also be our own champions. We need to really think about what we are telling ourselves.

That inner voice in our heads. Check out Episode 270: Overcoming the Fear of Rejection for more details.

Also check out Episode 232: Psychology of Fear With Jennifer Fidder. She shares some excellent strategies.

Get Rid of Imposter Syndrome

Think about what you are telling yourself. Is it useful? Or can you set up practices and strategies to move past it?  Imposter syndrome. We have all heard it. Sometimes we still feel it. There are lots of podcast episodes on that, but the key is focusing on your power.

Are you running late and arriving flustered? Or have you prepared properly? Have you got your notes ready if you need them? Have you practiced?

You are valuable. You can do what you need to do. Make sure you are showing up as your best self. That means taking care of yourself, getting enough rest, and preparing in advance.

Sometimes visibility is just about getting out there and engaging. Commenting on Facebook posts where people ask for help. Offering insights and putting your skills in front of people.

Let go of perfection. Nobody is perfect. Done is better than not done. You cannot get better if you do not start. Perfection is an impossible goal. Just start. Put some content out there. Introduce yourself. Volunteer for something. Start a conversation. Say, “Hi, I am Cathy, and I am a business coach.” You do not have to be pushy or do anything that feels salesy. Just talk to people.

Another great podcast episode to check out is Episode 237: How to Manage Then Remove Your Negative Beliefs With Anne McKeownn. She sharedsome excellent insights.

Imposter syndrome. Let it go. Work out some strategies to move forward.

How to Be Visible

So, how do you get visibility? How will get notice by your clients? Here are some tips below:

Tip1: Start Small
Focus on one main message instead of trying to say everything at once.  For example, when you are doing a podcast, try saying what feels most important at that moment. You might not cover everything that you want but that is okay.

Sometimes you just need to keep it simple. If you can get one key message across to one person, that is enough. We often try to speak to everyone. That does not work. Even Facebook did not start by trying to reach everyone. It began with one dormitory in one university before expanding.

Think about your one person. We have all seen an ad on social media and thought, “That is me! How do they know exactly what I need?” It is because they have honed in on their ideal audience.

Tip 2: Use Social Media

Yes, we love to hide from it, but it is free and reaches multiple people. It is also a great way to practice. We have all been at networking events where someone talks only about themselves. They go on and on, and you have no idea what they do. Make sure you are not doing that in your social media posts.

Stick to a few key topics. Three is a good number. Share them in different ways— visuals, case studies, different examples— but stay focused.

Tip 3: Networking

Networking is another great way to build visibility. Speak to people. Build relationships.  Do public speaking. That does not mean a huge stage. It could be a small group, a networking event, or even a Zoom session. Toastmasters, Rotary, and Lions clubs are always looking for speakers.  Start by recording yourself on Zoom. Practice in front of the mirror. Just get used to speaking.

Public speaking is one of the fastest ways for people to get to know you. People work with those they know, like, and trust. They work with authentic people. Everyone else is already taken, so just be you.
