AI for Coaches: Lessons from Horse Poo
AI is everywhere. Love it or hate it, it is not going away. But just like in 1890s New York when horse poop became a major health crisis, poorly written content is becoming a problem too. In that era, the car changed everything. Now, AI is doing the same.
This episode is not about fear. It is about how to use AI well, especially as a coach. Read on or listen in for AI for Coaches: Lessons from Horse Poo.
We are not talking about robots replacing you. Coaching is human. AI is a tool. Used right, it can help you get more done, more easily. Used poorly, it makes your content stink.
Let’s talk about what that looks like and how to avoid it.
What’s the Problem?
Use AI Like a Team Member
Feed it properly. Give it your voice, your tone, your preferences. What you like and do not like. Share examples of your work. Ask it to rework things, not invent your brand from scratch.
When you train it well, AI can help you:
- Repurpose blog posts into shorter social media content.
- Transcribe and summarise your podcast episodes.
- Brainstorm content ideas.
- Clarify your offers.
- Help you structure answers to common questions.
It can get you 95% the way there, so you are not starting from scratch. But that final 5%, the polish, the human touch, still needs to come from you.
Keep It Real
I once worked with a client who was thrilled with what AI wrote for him. It was slick. Very professional. But it did not sound like him at all. Anyone who knew him would have seen straight through it. That is the risk.
If you cannot stand behind it or say it out loud confidently, it is not your content.
Your audience is not looking for perfect. They want real. They want you. So use AI as a support, not a shortcut to be someone you are not.
Adapt and Stay in Control
Just like the printing industry changed, like business cards became digital, and like coaching has evolved, AI is just the next shift. As coaches and business owners, we need to adapt – not resist.
Your content needs to sound like you. Whether that is for your website, social media, lead magnets, or emails. AI can help shape it, but you are still the driver.

Should You Blame the Robots, If Your Content Smells Like Horse Poo?
AI is changing the landscape. That does not mean you get left behind. Learn to work with it. Use it in your voice. Make it your assistant, not your replacement.
