New Year Reflections Before You Set Goals

At this time of year, it is so easy to rush into goal setting. You want the year to be different. You want it to be amazing. If you had a great year, you want to keep that momentum going. If it was a tougher year, you want a fresh start. So before you set a single goal for 2026, let us take a pause and look back at 2025. Because your best work leaves clues.

Look At Your Past Work

Start with this question.

What was the best thing you did in 2025?
Then take it one step further.

What were the 3 things that worked really well, and how can you amplify them in 2026?

Sometimes the win is something small that you actually stuck to. A routine, a visibility habit, a follow up system, a new way of speaking to your audience. Those are the clues to your next level.

Use Your Camera Roll

A surprisingly good way to review your year is to scroll back through your camera roll.

You might spot things you forgot about.

  • A speaking gig.
  • A happy client moment.
  • A connection that turned into an opportunity.
  • A workshop you ran.
  • A day where you felt proud.

Those little moments are evidence. They matter.

Stay Consistent with Your Marketing

A lot of people stop marketing at this time of year. We disagree.

This can be one of the best times to stay lightly visible, because so many people are reflecting and thinking, “I do not want 2026 to be the same as 2025.”

You do not need to hustle. You just need consistency.

Marketing does not need to be complicated.

It comes back to conversations.
Following up.
Inviting people into the next step.

And yes, the money really is in the follow up, especially with past clients and warm leads who already know you.

Change Your Mindset

This is one of the best questions to ask when you feel pressure, resentment, or dread.

Is there real data here, something that needs to change?

Or is it drama, a story you have been repeating that is keeping you stuck?

Sometimes the situation needs to change.
Sometimes your thinking needs to change.

Perform a Review

Most coaches do too many things at once, then wonder why it feels messy.

So ask yourself, “What were the 1 to 3 things you did in 2025 that created the biggest results?”

Then repeat them. Refine them. Commit to them.

Many people think they need motivation to start. Often it is the opposite.

When you start, motivation follows. Consistency builds momentum, and momentum builds confidence.

You do not need more qualifications.
You do not need more content.
You do not need perfect branding.

Your value comes from clarity and your ability to help your clients see what is really going on, then guide them forward.

In a coaching sales conversation, you only need 3 skills:

1. Listen.
2. Identify the real problem.
3. Show them the solution.

Spot Belief Issues

When someone hesitates, it is usually a belief issue.

1. They need to believe in themselves.
2. They need to believe in you.
3. They need to believe in what you are offering.

When you address belief in your marketing and your sales conversations, objections start to soften before they even show up.

Choose 1 Focus for 90 Days

To start 2026 strong, pick 1 thing from this episode and work on it for 90 days.

Not 10 things.
Not a full reinvention.

Just 1 clear focus that creates momentum.
