Show Notes
Do you felt frustrated that your content is not bringing in clients? Let us unpack why that might be happening and what you can do instead. You were posting lots of tips. Tips are great. They are educational and helpful but often they do not resonate. They are not always relevant to the right people and they do not build trust.
You Don't Build Trust
You will not get clients unless you can build trust. People need to see you as the person who can solve their specific problem. They need to know that you understand what the problem is and if you can articulate it better than they can, then you are absolutely on a winner.
If you are sharing motivational tips, that is good but you are not showing how you could take someone from chaos to calm. Because what your audience is really asking is, “Can this person help me?” “Does that sound like me?” That is why case studies work so well. They help potential clients see themselves in the story. They relate to the transformation. And when they do, they think, “yes, that sounds like me.” It is all about building trust through relevance.
You Don't Implement The Rule Of One
You know those Facebook ads that seem like they are reading your mind? They work because they are following the Rule of One. One person. One specific problem. One clear solution. That is what makes all the difference. But many coaches want to help everyone. They post about motivation. Time management. Stress. Productivity. And while you can help with many things, trying to talk about all of them at once makes your message too general. It gets lost in the noise.
One of my clients, Sarah, was doing exactly that. She wanted to help people with ADHD. She also wanted to help teenagers finish school. And mums trying to parent those teens. Plus, she had a few more topics in mind.
Yes, she had experience in all of them. But her message became so messy that no one really understood what she did. So we defined it down. She chose to focus on ADHD and speak directly to that audience. She could not help everyone with ADHD, but she had a specific approach that really made a difference. And what happened? She started getting speaking gigs. People said, “yes, that is exactly what we need help with”. She even landed an international speaking gig. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Remember the Rule of One. One audience. One problem you can solve. Clarity always beats consistency.
Unclear Messaging
Being clear about your message makes a huge difference. Define who you are speaking to, what their problem is, and how you can help solve it. You do not have to give them everything up front, but you need to give enough value to show them that you understand.
You can post every day, but if your message is scattered across different topics with no clear takeaway, people will scroll right past it. Educational and helpful content is not enough if there is no trust and no relevance. It is better to post three times a week with clarity than every day with confusion. Doing more can often lead to burnout. Focus on quality and alignment instead. Test and measure. See what your audience responds to. Be strategic and thoughtful about what you post and where you engage.
You want to be the go-to person for your topic. That starts with narrowing your focus.
You Fear Video
Video is working well right now. It helps people connect with you. They get to hear your voice, see your face, and build trust faster. And no, you do not have to be perfect. Your accent, your style, even the fact that English might not be your first language—those things can make you more relatable, not less.
So shift from broadcasting to connection. Think about what draws you to other creators. Why do you like their content? Is it clarity? Consistency? A specific topic?
Do not compare yourself to someone twenty chapters ahead of you. Just notice what works and try it with your own audience. Test and tweak. Make sure your content stays on message. Avoid jumping from topic to topic. Confusion breaks trust. I had another client who posted over 100 motivational quotes and still got no traction. Once we clarified her message and slowed her content down, she created one strong reel—and boom. Massive engagement. More than the last ten posts combined.
