Marketing for Christmas with Cathy Smith & Oksana Koriakova
Show Notes
Today we are offering you 6 marketing tips, just in time for Christmas.
The holidays are a great time to sit back and look at what you are doing to make sure that your business is getting the exposure it needs. Have you been spending enough time getting the word out there? Do you need to come up with a new strategy for your marketing?
Talk to your audience
You can’t sell your product to every single person on the planet. It just won’t work. Even the big companies out there – from Apple to Toyota – aren’t selling to everyone, because they can’t, and because it isn’t how to create a successful marketing venture.
Talking to everyone is talking to no one.
Think about your ideal client. The person who loves your product or service more than anything, who pays on time and tells everyone about the great experience they have had with your business. That is the person you want to market to.
Who Are Your Gifts Really For?
If you are sending someone a present and it has your branding on it – whether it be an umbrella or a pen or something like that – it is considered to be brand awareness, not a heartfelt gift.
There is nothing wrong with brand awareness!
But people will remember you better if you prove that you know them and that you care. Consider sending a personal gift every now and then. Make sure that you choose something that the recipient will enjoy as well – there’s no point in sending a bottle of wine to a person who does not drink, or chocolates to a person who cannot eat them.
Alternatives to Social Media – Do You Have Them?
Social media is a great way to get in contact with people.
But if it all went down tomorrow, would you still be able to talk to those potential clients? If you rely on social media and just social media, it leaves you vulnerable to failure if those platforms go wrong. Remember the Facebook outage that happened earlier this year?
If you have an alternative mode of contact, you are in a much safer position than you would be otherwise.
Are You Prepared for Christmas Gifts?
Christmas is a great time for gifts but will people remember you among all the other presents they’ve received? Utilising a different event that pops up throughout the year – Valentine’s Day, Easter, New Year’s – means that you stand out amongst the crowd. If you’re doing something unique, that can change the way you are seen.
You’re not just ‘that person that sent a Christmas card’ like everyone else.
You can do something spectacular.
Help Your Audience Understand You
Your marketing content should span all kinds of learning styles.
Think about how you are sharing your message. Can you do it with image and video for those that don’t have time to read? Do you have short, concise messages and longer, more elaborate speeches?
One thing you need to be careful of is your language. If you are speaking only in industry-specific terms that your prospects don’t know or understand, you risk losing them through that alone. Make it easy for them to understand you and what you can do for them in return.
Plan Ahead
Stay 90 days ahead of your marketing goals.
If you want to start a campaign or event, you should be making sure that you have everything ahead of time so that you don’t get to the day of and have a crisis during it. Ideally, you’ll be ready to go, well before the marketing goal – whether it be an event, a gift, a brand awareness scheme or something else entirely – begins.
