Getting Profits
As coaches, we know that we all need to make profits but sometimes we put that a little bit behind the eight ball. So what are some of the maybe challenges that you have seen coaches do when they are thinking about profits?
Getting Distracted
Spending too much time setting stuff up and not enough, like on income producing activities. Make that perfect landing page or get that logo that you really, really love. That’s great, you know, but that doesn’t bring in the money, the revenue, the profits that you need. So, you know, focusing more on your income producing activities versus just the busywork which is a very tempting place to go down. There are just million things that can pull your attention. Probably one of the biggest distractions is the core focus of getting more money because you need money to have profits. Remember, without the revenue there’s no chance even for profits.
Focusing on One Client
This is a common practice among people with very little money to spend. Yes, some niches perhaps have. That’s kind of who you help. And that, you know, that is what it is. But even within those, I think there’s ways of like looking at the client avatar and saying, okay, I would like to find somebody that maybe is very similar to that person, perhaps even has the same problems, but is able to or are willing to pay a little bit more or stick around a little bit longer or that sort of thing.
So, finding the right customer to find the right client, essentially where your time is spent and most profitably is a good place to focus, to figure out. Is this the best use of my time helping this particular customer segment or should I just pivot a little bit, and find someone else is willing to spend a little bit more?
Joyful Coaching Pays
Maybe it’s somebody I enjoy working with a little bit more. Maybe they bring me a little bit more joy than working with this type of client. Because, you know, joy and profits kind of go together. If you don’t like what you are doing, then, then you are probably going to feel that grind when you get in there.
Open your email from there. Look at whatever you do first thing in the morning. It’s just going to not feel as good as if you have. If you are helping somebody that you love and the person loves to pay and get you, basically they get results and you get the money you need to continue helping people.
There’s no point pouring your heart out and doing the things that you really enjoy if you in the background, stressed about how you are going to feed your family, where that money is going to come from and all that sort of thing and of course, the more profitable we are, then we get to choose to use that money.
So it might be that avatar that you first picked that might end up being your pro bono after you’ve got your first ten clients or 20 clients or 50 clients or whatever it is. What we do is we give 1% of our revenue to some charities that we have picked. So that way, as we get more profitable, we can also give back a lot more as well.
So that can also be another way to help to bring in that joy.
Make it Simple
Keep track of your tasks. If you can, list it down. In doing so, you will have an idea whether you like doing a certain task or not. At the end of the day, look back at the tasks and ask yourself if it is something you can do or something that you can designate.
Depending on where you are at in your business, maybe you could have an assistant or these days, I know there’s all these gifts you can set up that will, for the cost of a whatever an AI subscription you can you can get there and, just have it sort of like reduce the brain processing power that it takes to do whatever task it is.
You put it in there once I know I’ve got processes that are multi-step and complicated, and if you just have this little guide that will, you know, this computer guide essentially that prompts you through all these different steps, great. You know, it doesn’t have to be, a virtual assistant or a person.
So figure out how much you can you and don’t but for the least favorite task that you do, try to figure out some way of moving that off to something else or someone else. And that, you know, just frees up more time for your other activities that you do really enjoy.
To start, just build it up. Remember the phrase that complex system started out as something simple, and you can’t really just go build a complex thing. You have to start small and then just kind of add on to it. Just start simple. Start with what you need. What’s the most important thing you feel like you would need if you are talking? Obviously, you have to have an offer, something that you are probably good at delivering, some result that you help get clients or help clients get. Then add on from there. And just stay simple overall. You know, you don’t need 100 things. Just a few where you can get started and scale it up.
Do What You Love
The more time you spend doing things you love, you are probably going to attract better clients or more clients. And because you will be spending more time doing those income producing activities, and you will probably be, like radiating the happiness that you are feeling now instead of this grind feeling, you know, you ever get on the call with somebody and you can just feel like the steam coming from their out of their ears because they are just so busy and they are stressed and like, it’s easier to sell the coaching when the client potential client sees that you love what you do and you just sort of bubbling this wonderful energy.
Stop Comparing
When it comes to automating, we need to make sure that whatever we are automating is working because as we amplify, we will also amplify our problems if we have got issues. This is quite often where people get stuck because they see coaches that are on their page on their chapter 20, when we might be only on chapter one or 5 or 10.
And then we see those people that are much further along and we think, oh yes, we’ve got to have this thing, we’ve got to have that, and we end up spending a whole lot of money and then having a lot of headaches. And that goes back to both your other points of joy and profits, because if we’ve got more money going out than coming in, that can be an issue.
