Show Notes
Your marketing may not be failing because of the wrong tactic. It may simply lack the right conditions to succeed. Just like a vegetable garden needs sunlight, marketing needs visibility, clarity, consistency and connection.
Do Not Confuse Poor Conditions with Poor Strategy
Coaches often abandon marketing tactics too quickly when they do not see immediate results. They try LinkedIn, email marketing, webinars, lead magnets and networking events, constantly searching for the next shiny object.
The problem may not be the tactic itself but the conditions in which it is being used. Instead of repeatedly changing strategies, ask whether you have given your marketing enough time, visibility and consistent effort to grow.
The Four Conditions for Marketing Growth
1. Visibility
Enough people need to see your offer. A brilliant offer that nobody finds will not generate results.
2. Clarity
Your audience must quickly understand who you help, what problem you solve and why they should care. More visibility cannot fix an unclear message.
3. Consistency
People need to see your message repeatedly to recognize you, build trust and understand that you are the right person to help them.
4. Connection
Your marketing should create conversations. Content, emails, networking and lead magnets need to guide people toward engaging with you, because clients ultimately come from conversations, not preparation alone.
Give Your Marketing Time to Take Root
Business owners often launch something, check the numbers, and immediately change the audience, headline, platform or strategy. This constant adjustment can prevent marketing from having enough time to grow.
Like seedlings that cannot grow when repeatedly dug up, marketing needs consistent care, patience and small adjustments based on what you observe. Do not abandon an entire strategy out of panic before giving it a fair opportunity.
Focus on Application, Not More Tactics
Email marketing, LinkedIn, networking, webinars, referrals and advertising can work, but none of them work automatically. The tactic is only part of the equation; how you execute it matters.
The challenge for many coaches is not a lack of marketing ideas but a lack of consistent, effective application. Sending one email, posting unrelated content or failing to follow up after a webinar does not necessarily mean the tactic has failed.
Before deciding that a marketing tactic is not working, ask:
- How many people have actually seen it?
- Is my messaging clear?
- Have I been consistent enough?
- Have I reached the right people?
- Does my marketing naturally lead into a conversation?
- Have I followed up?
- Have I given it enough time?
What Part of Your Marketing Is Sitting in the Shade?
A struggling marketing strategy may not need to be replaced. It may need more clarity, visibility, connection and follow-through.
Before chasing the latest tactic, examine the conditions around your existing marketing. Sometimes the answer is not a new strategy but giving your current one the right environment to grow.
