It is the week between Christmas and New Year.
For most people this time of year is a time to slow down and take stock of the year that was. How did your year go?
Was it a good year, great year, disappointing or something else?
For me, it was a year for a reason.
If you are listening to this at a different time, play along, and think about what it was like last year or what you would like it to be like this year.
The Year That Was
The year that was, some amazing things happened, some trying things, some horrid things and everything in between. When you really look at it, is true for most years.
It did seem more pronounced this year.
This is the time of year when I actually read a book or 2. Not listen; actually read a physical book.
Currently, I’m reading “Decide Your Destiny” by Kyle Spyrides. It is a great book that makes you think, am I deciding on my destiny and making sure life doesn’t just happen to you.
Design Your Year
What is your destiny for 2023, both personal and for your business?
Do you know?
Do you have a 1 year, 3 year and 5 year plan?
Failing to plan,
Is planning to fail.
As Dale Beaumont says, “Prevention is cheaper than Disaster”.
Meaning, don’t wait until the disaster has happened before taking the action. Don’t wait to lose the client before addressing your systems or you’ve had a heart attack before you look after at your health, or gone bankrupt etc. Take preventative action now.
Plan now and adjust as you need.
Set Your Course
Pick a North star to aim for and make your decision by.
Are you finding yourself chasing shiny objects all the time and jumping from one thing to another?
Plan Your Future
If you have a clear plan, you can run these decision through that filter.
- Is it a must have to get you to the point you are going?
- Is it a nice to have?
- Will it take you away from your objectives.
Will you still make mistakes and bad choices?
Yes, but probably less and more educated ones.
If you haven’t planned your business year before, now is the time.
If you have a plan already, then now is the time to revisit, revise, celebrate the wins and adjust if necessary.
Be Brave Think Big
If I could wave a magic wand, what would 2023 look like for you?
Be brave, think big and plan accordingly.
Don’t ask for a faster horse ask for that new shiny car.
What is your proverbial car?
Don’t worry about how you will get there, start with the “what”.
Work out the how as you go along.
